After guidance through the CDC and suggestions from state and regional health that is public in assessment with NPS Public Health Service Officers, effective March 28, 2020, Assateague Island National Seashore (Maryland District) will undoubtedly be CLOSED to all or any park site site visitors until further notice. We’re going to inform the general public once we resume complete operations and supply updates on our www. Nps.gov/asis that is website and, Twitter and Instagram @AssateagueNPS.

Updates may be published to your park site and media channels that are social.

Campers might not bring firewood from out of state. Firewood needs to be bought locally.

Camping at Assateague will soon be a pleasant experience if you want ahead! The barrier area habitat are harsh if you should be maybe maybe not ready. Camping is available just into the Maryland region of Assateague Island. Campers are reminded to create firewood (locally purchased), sunscreen, insect repellent, display tents for color and insect security, and long tent stakes to anchor tents within the sand and wind.
